Unlike my personality, I like dark stuff. The idea of the Sublime. Perfection in horror. Gothic Literature. Gothic Poetry. I have a Masters degree in Gothic Fiction, and I enjoy especially the vampire novels of the 19th century and penny dreadfuls. Not the penny-any “vampire with a conscience” crap of this century. I like my monsters dark, nefarious and wholly evil.

Strangely, I also like the beach and dancing to hard music and (even so pop ever so often). Sylvia Plath, though not gothic, speaks to the sad, dark and melancholy side of things, and I love her poetry. (And I think she was hot in her day). I like driving with my top down along the PCH and smelling the ocean air. I like hanging with my girlfriends and picking up guys—though with my work schedule those opportunities are few.
