UNDERSTANDING YOUR CHALLENGE CLUES!! READ CAREFULLY!
We have mentioned this before but this year it bears repeating.
Challenge clues frequently contain keywords or phrases to help guide teams to their goal. They can be very subtle or they can be BOLD. (as in BOLD print). Pay attention to the wording of each clue and remember, part of each Challenge is the puzzle in the clue itself.
Next, another reminder. Just like in last season, Challenges frequently require teams to enter someplace to find the Race marker. Limiting yourself to large open areas in your search may just mean you've gone past some place more than once that you should have actually gone into and explored.
Finally, EVERY location that you will be looking for will have the 2021 Race Symbol on it. Not one of the Race adds like you see with the prize amount and dates. Below is an example of what your team is looking for in each challenge.
Welcome to the most fun and challenging event of the year! Come back to Virtual Vancouver, see its wonders, learn its history, have a blast testing yourself with skills your Avatar may not even remember you had.
Modeled after the well known reality show, the Virtual Vancouver Race pits teams of two members against each other to race around Virtual Vancouver AND Utherverse, to complete Challenges. Any areas in both Virtual Vancouver, it's adjacent regions as well as RLC/Utherverse "may" be included in any challenge.
The Race begins at the Official Starting line on Sunday, December 5, 2021. All Teams will be given access to their first Challenge at that time. Teams can then hunt through out Virtual Vancouver with their "clue" to complete their challenges, and submit proof. (details on submitting proof is in the Rules section)
Each Team, having completed a challenge will then receive the next one to complete until the finale on Saturday, December 11, 2021.
The Grand Prize will be given to the winning Team who completes the most challenges during the week long event and reaches the Finish line first. And, yes, there are parties along the way to cheer you on. Choose your partner now. Sign up is required (see Teams section)
Who I'd like to meet:
Teams
Teams must be comprised of two members. They will be required to register in order to receive clues. (Hint: Friend this page now)
To register, BOTH members of a team simply submit a Friend Request and a COMPLETED REGISTRATION FORM (see below), to Amazing_V_V_Race.
The email(s) should have both of your names so we can pair you up and your written agreement that you will each abide by the Race Rules (see Rules section)
Once registered, teams may not change participants. In the event a team changes a new email will need to be submitted.
Teams may work on completing Challenges at any time, 24/7 until the last day when the winning Team crosses the finish line. Once they have completed a challenge they submit a screen shot in an email (instructions will be provided) to this Profile. Once the proof has been logged they will receive the next challenge via various methods in the order of proof submission.
Teams of contestants MUST register using their Primary Utherverse/RLC account. UVIP/Alt accounts will NOT be accepted as viable contestants. Basic members "may" register and compete however this is discouraged since some challenges may present limitations to basic members that VIP's do not have. In the event any Basic member chooses to compete they MUST be VIP by the final day of the Race. Failing to be VIP/UVIP on the final day will automatically eliminate that Racer and or team from the competition, regardless of standing, or whether or not their team partner is VIP.
For obvious reasons of fairness and security, current and past Amazing Race staff may not compete as Race contestants.
RACE RULES
These rules apply to all contestants in the Amazing Race Virtual Vancouver. Questions about them submitted prior to the start of the race will be responded to on the race page whenever possible.
These rules apply to all official registered contestants during the race from Dec. 5th to Dec. 11, 2021 while in the Virtual Vancouver region or any of its connected regions as defined by the map in Virtual Vancouver Transport.
Moving around: Racers may walk, run, jump, swim, skate or fly only. Porting, with the exception of to or from a connected region is forbidden. Example- Contestants can port from Virtual Vancouver to Granville Island and back, but not from place to place within those regions. This includes porting to each other or someone helping you. Teams must remain together within a region. The one menu option Racers must NOT use while competing is "Go There (Avatar)". Each team must have both members physically perform the challenge in order to abide by this rule.
Note, thanks to some very skilled players last year we have made the following change to Race rules. While the challenge locations in World "may" be in place prior to the clue being released to competitors, on the day the clue is released the Race staff will have made some subtle change to the location that only the judges will know. What this means is that your team MUST submit a screen shot taken AFTER the clue is released. Failing to do that may invalidate your screen shot and force your team to repeat the challenge in order to get an accurate proof image.
Challenge clues: Teams will receive clues for specific challenges at various times after they have completed the previous challenge. Timing for receiving will be based on the order of successful challenge completions submitted and will occur in a twelve hour time frame from 10AM to 10PM EST.Completed challenges submitted outside those times will be accepted and the next one released after 10AM the following day. More than one challenge can be completed per day.
Challenges will include location of both landmarks and props. Note: certain challenges may have their own rules written into the clue.
Help: Just like the reality concept, teams "may" ask others for help. This excludes any Race staff or Officials. Race staff will be present during the Event only to clarify questions and to monitor progress and fair competition. Friends or spectators helping are not considered competitors and if observed assisting registered teams in any rules violations may result in the Team being eliminated. Teams may cooperate with each other but with the understanding that only one team will ultimately win.
Fair play: We expect all Teams to be good sports and to play fairly. One thing we learned from the last event was just how close the competition was as times. So just to make sure everyone understands. In the event, your team arrives at a challenge location and there is another team or teams ahead of you, you MUST wait your turn and not interfere with another teams game play. Failure to do so will result in an automatic suspension until the circumstances can be reviewed by the Race staff.
Final Rule: Any team found to be trying to circumvent any aspect of the rules. Including items not covered here, that is to say cheating, may be removed from the race and will not receive further clues until their conduct has been reviewed. Both live and tech monitors will be in place during the event. Please visit the Rule Blog on this page for updates

Acceptable methods of showing Proof of Challenge Completion
In order to be given credit for a successful Challenge completion Teams must submit a Screen Shot for Verification. The screen shot MUST include BOTH team members, in human form, at the site indicated by the specific Challenge. Example: Standing next to a prop or landmark they had to find. BOTH Racers names as well as the challenge identifier MUST be legible and clearly identifiable to get credit.
Acceptable methods of Submitting Screen Shots are as follows.
1) BEST - attach/embed your screen shot in an email to Amazing_V_V_Race. This can be done the same way as posting a comment on some ones page and is by far the fastest way to get credit. Do NOT post your Screen Shot as a profile comment. EMAIL only.
2) Acceptable - attach a link to the image of the Screen shot in your email. This will be slower and each team is responsible to ensuring that judging staff can view the image.
3) Acceptable - On the Team Members Profile page, create a photo Folder called Race. Place the screen shots in that folder and then notify via email for Judges to view that folder. Note: While judges can view this folder it is the racers responsibility if other racers see it as well.
In all of the above methods Teams are STRONGLY encouraged to test whichever method they select before the Race date. You may submit sample emails with the words "Race Test" as the subject at any point up until the 4th of December, and our race staff will notify you of it's success or failure.
