I am Flower. I was born in China, and currently live in the United States.
My official profession is musician, playing for a long time with the Chinese Traditional Orchestra. In this capacity I have been all over the world, even though sometimes just briefly as a representative of Chinese culture and art. I also have a degree in astrophysics, and formally worked at the Kitt Peak National Observatory near Tucson Arizona.
In my younger days, and to work my way though college, I was a shibari model.

Music:
My favorite modern music genre is American R&B, jazz, blues and gospel. I love the music because it seems the artists really get into it emotionally and it is projected to the listener.
My favorite classic genre is of course Chinese traditional music, and orchestra.
Movies:
My favorite movies in English would be Children of Men (the book is different, but the movie was good never the less), the classics Cool Hand Luke, Double Indemnity, Casablanca...and just down right cool The Blues Brothers.
My favorite Chinese movie is called in English 'Aftershock', and it is about a family after a major earthquake. Very hard to watch without tears.
Books:
My favorite reading genre is dystopian societies. Lord of the Flies (a very strange addition to this list, but to me fits just fine) 1984, Soma, A Clockwork Orange, Logan's Run, A Handmaid's Tale, Fahrenheit 451. and Brave New World are some of the classics.
Some of the lesser known, and to me more memorable and applicable to the world we live in now are The Chrysalids, (perfection judged by someone else is the standard, and all others are eliminated) Iron Heel (although written in 1908 can be seen in modern societies where corporations are given the status and rights of people) Walden Two, We, Anthem (social engineering) V is for Vendetta. (when religion becomes the law of the land)...and a lot more
